On a recent photography trip to Istanbul I was introduced to the amazing work of Magnum photographer Ara Güler.
Describing himself as a visual historian he embraced the identity of the photojournalist and believed that photography can only reflect reality.
I was lucky enough to see his black and white and colour images of Istanbul in a Leica gallery as well as visiting the Ara Güler Muzesi to see his portraiture work.
He has definitely been added to the list of favourite photographers.
