Daido Moriyama

Daido Moriyama: A Retrospective

"Daido Moriyama: A Retrospective at The Photographers' Gallery in London is a captivating exploration of the artist's rich and intense photographic journey.

Moriyama's signature style, characterized by high contrast, grainy textures, and a mastery of black and white, unfolds through a collection that spans his prolific career. The exhibition offers a profound visual experience, showcasing Moriyama's ability to capture the essence of moments with a raw and gritty allure that resonates with the viewer."

A must see in my opinion.

I don’t but if I did…

I don’t drive but if I did I would love a classic car, new cars just do nothing for me.

I get that old cars are not practical but for me when it comes to cars, practical is boring. I would rather have a van for practicality and a beautiful classic car to enjoy.

But then I don’t drive, so what do I know?

Concrete Communities

Founded by Leanne Cloudsdale a design journalist and communications consultant.

Concrete Communities is about bringing together design industry professionals for a evening of debate and discussion.

Event001

Park Hill, Sheffield.

As a resident of Park Hill, Leanne launched the the series of events hosted by herself, discussing J.L. Womersley’s Brutalists grade II* listed site.

Among the panel were Mark Latham-Urban Splash, Annalie Riches-Mikhail Riches, Charlie Monaghan-The Modern House, Phineas Harper-Open House, Craig Oldham-Office of Craig, Sadhana Jagannath-Enviromental Psychologist and Eddy Rhead-The Modernist.

A great evening that was well hosted. I found it really interesting hearing the professionals, public and residents views on how Park Hills architecture makes them feel.

Can’t wait to see what’s next.

UKTTA

One of my best pals and talented artist has started tattooing. We took a trip to the Birmingham tattoo convention to check out some of the countries top artists and their work.

I have always loved art and always saw myself getting a tattoo at some point but at 47 and no tattoo maybe that’s how I am different as tattoos are certainly not adorned on the few these days. Never say never.

Ara Güler

On a recent photography trip to Istanbul I was introduced to the amazing work of Magnum photographer Ara Güler.

Describing himself as a visual historian he embraced the identity of the photojournalist and believed that photography can only reflect reality.

I was lucky enough to see his black and white and colour images of Istanbul in a Leica gallery as well as visiting the Ara Güler Muzesi to see his portraiture work.

He has definitely been added to the list of favourite photographers.
